ABOUT THE ORIGINAL PHOTO:

Greene and Monroe met on a Look Magazine shoot in 1953. They became fast friends, and Greene shot Monroe many times. Monroe’s estate, controlled by Anna Strasberg (widow of Lee Strasberg, to whom Monroe left her estate) challenged Greene’s ownership of his photographs of Monroe, including this one. Courts ruled in Green’s favor.
